Krafton, for its part, has stated that it is working with the government to clarify the ban. "We are clarifying how BGMI was removed from the Google Play and App stores and will let you know as soon as we have specific information," Krafton said in a statement.

However, it appears that the BGMI publisher anticipated the ban. Krafton released an update less than a fortnight ago that allowed users to download the APK version of the game from its website. A BGMI-related issue was raised in the Rajya Sabha just last week, and lawmakers have been debating whether action titles are harmful to children ever since. This was brought to light after a report a few days ago of a Lucknow boy killing his mother for not allowing him to play BGMI.

Given the current situation, it is safe to assume that BGMI has not yet been banned in India. If Krafton is successful in addressing the government's concerns, the game may return to app stores soon.
